March 2024: Critical technologies

Critical and emerging technologies were, of course, in the headlines globally in March of 2024.

In Asia and the Indo-Pacific we saw Alibaba’s research unit announce server-grade RISC-V chips, North Korean hacks of semiconductor companies in the South, Australia’s moves in quantum computing, and discussion of a made-in-Taiwan satellite network.

In the wider world, critical technology coverage saw the United Kingdom and the European Union partner on semiconductor manufacturing, Barcelona’s moves into RISC-V chips manufacturing, the roll-out of France’s national quantum tech strategy, plans for lunar mining of a hydrogen isotope, and more.
